Hello guys!
Following HUGE amount of letters that we have received from you, we felt it important to officially announce the nearest update to iStudiez Pro – version 1.1 (free of charge for everyone who already bought the app).
We are almost ready with it, but we want to double check everything, so we hope to submit it to Apple’s review in September. It is lots of work, so thanks for your understanding and patience.
So what’s new?
- First of all, iStudiez Pro will only be compatible with iPhone/iPod Touch OS 3.0 or higher (if you have not yet updated your OS, it is right the time to do it, the new OS has lots of new and amazing functions to enjoy).
- Most craved for feature – Push Notifications.
- Holidays. Yep, now when you don’t have classes on some particular day, you’ll be able to mark it so that it shows you there is a holiday or day off with no classes.
- Block schedule option (A & B weeks, 6-days schedule, every other day repetition etc).
- Going beyond mere planning we have decided to add special area dedicated to Teachers hosting all your information about your instructors (e-mail, phone numbers, address, office hours etc).
- When you input Custom class type, it will further be saved and available from the class types picker.
- Danish, Finnish, Norwegian, Swedish, (hey there Scandinavia!), Hebrew and Polish localizations.
- Operation speed improved, assignments planning improved, some other things added (let us be mysterious at least in something, hah?!)
- Minor bugs fixed (that’s standard, we just had to write that down
)
Guys, we are also thinking to add GPA calculator, weighted assignments, etc but this will come a little bit later, just be patient, OK? We will continue ameliorating iStudiez Pro, so feel certain about that.
We thank you again for all your letters, warm feedback and support you are showing with your suggestions and ideas. It is really important for us and inspires for further feat of arms 
Of course we will not be able to include ALL your ideas into this one update, but please know that we will definitely consider them for the future.

Can’t wait for the update, specifically for the block scheduling, push notifications and holidays! I wish it would be released sooner but respect to these guys for wanting an as-near-to perfect product for their customers as possible.

I’m waiting for a version on mac that will sync with the mac version and vice versa. Would be awesome!

I don’t own iStudiez. It looks great but I don’t think I’d buy it unless there was a mac app to sync to.
Yaaaay! I am sooooooo excited about this! I use this app everyday, and it has seriously saved my butt!
I think a mac app would be cool too, but what about the people that use windows? I use windows now because my stupid school says I must. For that reason do I think that a web app would be much better, the web app could be intergated (not sure how to write that word and to lazy to look it ub now :p) with Growl and Growl for windows
should I load my clases or wait until the update? I have a day 1, day 2, day 3… scedule
I completely hate the idea of a web app. There are tons of apps that I would love to use but never purchased because I’m not always around open WiFi when I need to be

Might I also suggest a simpler app name? I know I’m not alone on this one! Perhaps just “Studies” would work better. I’m really not a fan of the “i” in the beginning, or the “z” at the end of Studiez and adding a “Pro” to the end of the name just seems unnecessary.
A small feature that is more just a minor annoyance, I am on the quarter system and not the semester system. Ultimately this isn’t a huge problem but slightly annoying adding semesters when really they are my quarters.
lawrence, with the new browsers then you can have all the data downloaded (or something like that) so you can still use it while you are not online. Not many browsers that support it though.
Adobe Air application is maybe better? But even with an Adobe air application you will need a website (mainly a database) wich you can sync the iPhone app with.
I think this is a good application. For the moment, i won’t buy it because i don’t know if i could make backup of the data. There is no information about it.
perhaps can you teel me if it’s possible ? And How to do it ?
This sounds great! School just started today and the app is very useful! I am excited to see an update with Push notification!
I also agree on having a Mac/PC application to sync up to, although I do know it would be crazy to make.
Any plans for a mac app?? I need something that syncs to my mac as well… or it is not worth purchasing.

I havent bought the app yet but with these new updates i am convinced this will be my choice. The gpa calculator and keeping track of grades is much hoped for. Nice app.

I may give this app a chance…as I intend to use it as a teacher trying to manage his courses with 4/5 students groups. We’ll see…

Great app guys, I’m addicted to it. Love the interface but please please please make at least a sync with ical possible in some way. Ical or BusyCal, doesn’t matter. A sync would make this app golden.

JM when you sync with iTunes, iTunes makes a back up of all of your apps and data.

I dunno if this has alraedy been suggested (but i’m not going to read all the previous posts). Can you make the calendar so that you can add non school related things, like Dr.s appointments or meetings? that would be awesome! Otherwies, I love love love this app!
There must be some way to back up this data. It’s much too important to risk losing either by losing my phone or because the phone software gets funky and has to be restored. (It does happen.)
Other apps either sync with a desktop version (Mac or PC or both) or with a Website. Either method would be OK with me.
Hopefully you guys updated how your completed Homework is sorted. Because right now it is sorting by like alphabetical order. I wish it would stay organized by when the assignment was due.
Overall I love this app. It amazing. Can’t wait for update. I wish there was a computer app. Pc app. To synch. I live this app. Please update. Come soon. I need you update.

It would be nice to have more flexible class times. Right now you can only round to the nearest 5 minutes but a more exact time would be nicer.
Can the classes and assignments be made to sync with iCal or Mail as “To-Do’s”? Also, Could there be a way to mail your self a Home Work reminder as a HTML mail message or .ical appointment with a reminder. Essentially syncing it up with MobileMe and existing productivity suits (Microsoft Outlook, Apple Mail, iCal, Address Book) rather than creating a stand-alone “GTD” Mac app.

It’d be really nice to see some integration with iCal! I’ve only played around with this app a bit, but it seems amazingly useful! Thanks a lot guys. Throw in iCal synchronization and I think you’ve got a flawless…. or better… 6/5 app here
I think syncing with the calendar is not allowed by Apple. That is why all calendar apps in the app store sync with GoogleCalendar. I hope, that Apple allows this kind of syncing soon. So many apps would benefit from it …
Showing the day of week when assigning the assignment due date would be helpful, an I’ll agree with the above comments of app syncing.
A more exact class time would be indeed very helpful.
Since you haven’t released the app update for consideration yet, here should be plenty of time for a quick rewrite of the code.
I’m truly waiting for a Mac version which would be able to sync with the iPhone’s iStudiez Pro.
Adobe AIR apps Generally sucks, so please no any apps to do with that. Native Mac app would be best, written in Cocoa and all. And if there’s later on demand for a Windows app, you could probably do that too. I don’t know. But I just wish so much for the Mac app

I might be alone on this topic, but could a new feature be the ability to separate the completion date of the assignment and the actual due date. Perhaps, keeping the assignment scheduled for the due date even though it is completed early, that way I know what I need to take to class, since the prof won’t let us turn things in early. Other than that it’s an amazing app, well worth the cost.

Might I suggest that you add the ability to add appointments or events to the calendar, that might not be related to an assignment. I would like the ability to plan out my entire student schedule including any meetings, events, doctor appointments, trips, or extracurricular activities.
In addition, I agree with the majority on the topic of a desktop app. I think that it is imperative to have a desktop app or calendar to sync to, because it is painful entering these assignments via the iPhone’s keyboard and the copy paste method. So far I’ve already entered 141 assignments manually and the process was terrible!
In addition, I think that a LANDSCAPE KEYBOARD is ESSENTIAL!!!! That would make this application complete.
I’m super psyched for the new update, especially since it’ll finally get push. But seriously, my one request would be to either change the name back to iStudent, or to find something more sophisticated to call the app. iStudiez doesn’t do it justice. It sound so childish. And I agree with Nicole. Unless there is a Lite version of the app, the Pro is unnecesary.

any ETA? well…..updated ETA now that we’re going into the second week of September? I had this from the beginning and started to doubt you but the new update will keep this app light years ahead of all other options. Keep up the good work and can’t wait for an update!
Sounds like an awesome update. I am very glad Apple has been featuring your app in the Canadian App Store for this past month or so.
Any word on the release of the update. I also agree a simpler name might be nice and love the suggestion for “Studies” above. Can’t wait to see it.

I guess it will be out in the beginning of October as the translators still haven’t got the new strings to translate…
Sorry to ask a maybe stupid question but how can I change language settings. The app claims to support several languages but I simply do not find it.
Any idea when the update is coming out, school is in week 3, Really want the update, push notifications should be awesome. Plus I’d really like a desktop version ASAP

However, I have a small request:
When we create a new assignment and select the due date, please let us select the date from a CALENDAR, instead of the wheel. Often teachers say homework is due “next Wednesday”, and it’s annoying to have to find a calendar to see what date Wednesday is.
Any news on the progress of submission?

Desktop App would be great with wifi sync. And I agree with one of the other posts that the name could do with being a tad simpler. I’m not adverse to the “i” at the beggining particularly but the “z” annoys me somewhat.

Here’s an interesting thought for a future update. As augmented reality is becoming all the rage nowadays, why not give the option to post GPS markers for your classes and view their distance (and other stats like time till class and such) through the 3GS camera via augmented reality.
Really wants the weeks A and B thing!!! Then this app will be far more useful to me!!
Please add a preference to switch from Semesters to Quarters and I will be even more happy with this great tool! It is really just a minor UI issue and works fine without it, but it would be nice.

I saw in preferences that you can turn them on without an update. DCWolfie, have you looked in the system preferences for this app?
I just bought your app and love it, but i’m curious if you could have an export and import feature for the data i save in your app—i’m afraid of putting precious data in it and then having my iphone lost or restored and then losing all the time and effort i put in and losing my records. I’d even pay to be able to manage it on my mac, while keeping it on my iphone at the sametime, perhaps a datafile saved on the .mac file servers? I appreciate all your great work. Thanks.
