Fixing non-stop during the weekend: update 1.1.1 submitted!

Yeah, that was the oh-my-gosh-why-on-earth-it-does-not-work weekend. We’ve put all our efforts and energy to fix the push thing asap so that you can finally enjoy getting notified of your classes and assignments.

We’ve received several hundreds of letters from you for the past few days. It was a great help as many of you have outlined some problems that seemed to occur while installing version 1.1 on different devices as well as some mistakes in localizations. We thank each and everyone of you for your comments and support!

BTW, special thanks for those who sent us their crash logs, it is the easiest and the fastest way to locate any bug when an app unexpectedly quits.

So what we fixed:
– PUSH notifications (hopefully this time will work properly)
– bug with semester time frames
– occasional crash when creating new instructor
– week view operation
– occasional crash when tapping Calendar

BONUS! with 1.1.1 you can add assignments, classes and exams from Calendar view.

This is the app I use the most for College, and I’m deeply grateful that the team keeps updating us and updating the app itself to incorporate new and better features!
Can’t wait for 1.1.1 and even 2.0! (Haha!)

    Best regards,

    Ben.

The only thing that’s really bothering me about iStudiez is the weekly calendar view. It’s kind of – for lack of a better word – hideous. Maybe you could take a bit of a cue from how iCal looks. Rounded corners and pastel coloured boxes really make things look better together. Also, the “zoom” view is a little awkward.

Sorry if sound like I only have criticism for the app, because that is absolutely not true. I love this app and would really just love to see it reach it’s full potential.

    Keep up the good work!

How do I create A- and B-weeks in this app. I don’t get it!

    • Hi Rick, when you are dealing with A and B weeks, and if you have same classes, but with different schedule, you will need to set up a separate schedule for each week. Say, you have Math on Tuesday each A week and on Monday each B week. So for week A you input Math for Tuesday and in Planner settings set “repeats every 2 weeks”. Then you repeat same procedure for the B week schedule.

    @iStudiez Pro Team

    What about 6 day schedules?

Have you thought of a sync tool so that people can sync with iCal?

  • Neo-Tech

    Hi,

Can’t wait for the next update 🙂 This is one of my most used apps and I can finally ditch my planner I think (>:D). I’ve noticed one issue with this app, it takes up a LOT of memory, I am jailbroken but it shouldn’t affect normal apps. I was using it today to add new assignments and checked with SBSettings how much memory I had, turns out I had 20MB free out of the usual 150MB I usually have, so I killed iStudiez Pro and voila! I’ve got 130MB left. This is a clear sign to me that there is a memory leak, I can send you logs if you want.

Also, I’d love to see a Mac equivalent app of iStudiez Pro. I currently have 3 Mac apps which all sync together (Dropbox, Shovebox and Things) and it makes my life so much more easier. It also keeps my data safe so if my iPhone is to get damaged/lost I will have a backup of my data.

Great work! Keep ’em coming 🙂

Seconding the iCal sync. I would like to only have to enter information once; but, I have information in both calenders. One result is that I have to not only enter information twice; but, I also have to check in two different places to see if I am free and what I need to do.

    @Neo-Tech
Ya i’ve also noticed that iStudiez Pro takes up WAY more memory than it should.

  • Chad

Rick, I do A and B weeks differently. It’s a bit of work upfront though. But if your A and B weeks follow an irregular pattern, like mine, it’s the only way. Basically, I create A and B versions for the courses I teach (A English Expression and B English Expression). They are the same students but the classes fall on different days. So, according to iStudiez, I am teaching 18 courses this semester (really it’s 9). I then assign both A and B courses to each week. I then go through my school schedule and cancel either the A or B courses for each day to match the school schedule. Until I can create a week schedule and apply it to a given week, this is the only way.

When is 1.1.1 coming out? It’s been nearly a week. I don’t mean. To rush you, I just use your app so much I NEED PUSH .

  • Mike

@Zach: They’ve already submitted it, it’s up to Apple to approve it.

Cmon Apple, it’s already been 9 days…I NEED PUSH TOO!

  • Annie

How do you add in holidays? My schedule works on ABCD Days so when we have breaks, it messes up the timing of the schedule because it schedules classes during the breaks…

  • Imdamoos

I can’t really use the app right now because it counts weekday-holidays as working days, while my school uses a 6-day schedule that doesn’t count weekday-holidays. I’d really like to use it, but I’d have to put in each class individualy.

    Waiting for 1.1.1!
My app crashed when trying to edit an exam from calendar
view and kept crashing when clicking on calendar. Tried restarting iPhone but no change.

So I emailed myself a backup, clicked on the backup attachment and restored the app. Fixed!

Just have to remember NOT to edit exams from calendar view until update is released.

    GET TO IT APPLE!!!
