iStudiez Pro for Mac: Hints and Tips

  • Double click any class in Day or Week View to see/change its details. This does not work for iCal events so far though.
  • Right click any class in Day View to see contextual menu.
  • In Day View use three fingers swipe gesture to the right or left to get to the next or previous day respectively.
  • When in Planner press Delete (Backspace) key on your keyboard to delete selected Classes, Courses or Semesters. IMPORTANT: there is no undo for this action so far.
  • Drag & drop an instructor from Instructors pane to any Class in Planner to assign such instructor to that Class.
  • Check application menus to learn about shortcuts active for iStudiez Pro for Mac.

»In Day View use three fingers swipe gesture to the right or left to get to the next or previous day respectively.«

this is great! but it operates different then any other three fingers swipe gesture in snow leopard. this is good as preparation for lion, but at the moment it is a little bit confusing.

  • Ashkan

“In Day View use three fingers swipe gesture to the right or left to get to the next or previous day respectively.”
As manfred said, i have also said this on my review in the app store. Swiping left gets you to the next day and swiping right goes to previous day. It is VERY confusing. Even if lion is like this, for this particular app or situation I think you should change it back to the normal “swipe right for next”.

@Manfred – three finger swipe in safari on snow leopard emulates the action of the back and forward buttons. I love it and use it all the time.

  • Wes

@Manfred – I just opened iStudiez and tried out the swiping. I see what you are talking about now. It’s inverted (the same as it is in Lion) in the sense that swiping to the right goes back a day, as opposed to forward a day. That should be a toggle option. My apologies sir!

  • Robert

I love the app. Thanks for the tips they are great. If there are more keep them coming. I agree with manfred seams to me that the three finger motion is backwards. Left should be back a day and Right should be forward a day.

  • David Blangstrup

What about a preference to start the day at let’s say 8 o’clock—I mean, only showing the calendar from that point on? For now, the day starts a 4 in the morning, and I have no classes at that time!

  • LukeMF

I disagree, I think the swiping works great. Just imagine your turning over the pages. If you were flicking through a physical planner like the one in day view, that is exactly the motion you would use! Its intuitive!

  • Bret

I think the swiping feature is ok. It seems to be structured around the likeness of a day planner and the swiping inversion is like how you would flip a page to get to the next/previous day.

  • Bret

Correction – I think the swiping feature is ok as is.*

I really need to contact you guys, I lost all of my data for some random reason and I can’t seem to be able to get it back. Too much effort gone to waste because of some server crap, please help me get it back.

Hello, is it possible to add a Name to a class/seminar?
Because i do have more than one class in English with the same tutor…

  • zieph

i think the swiping is meant to make it seem like you are turning a page of a calendar rather than the mentality of back button as in a browser

but i have a wish, do you guys think you can add a todo list in the bottom right corner thats already empty.?????? :) :) :) to where the contents are not time dependent but are static and are removed when the user completes or deletes them.. i think all students will use this ALOT.

    thank you

  • Amanu

Does anyone knows how to put alerts on the assigmentes you add in the app? apreciate your answer

  • Amanu

i mean like the alerts that generates on the ipad app, but im talking about mac app. thanks

    • https://istudentpro.com iStudiez Pro Team

Amanu, the Mac version will have notifications implemented when Mountain Lion is officially released.

  • Stacey

Does anybody know how to add an alert e.g if I have an exam, to notify me two weeks before to revise?

  • stacey

Oh sorry! Only just seen the reply to Amanu’s question and I am guessing he means the same as me.

  • LMP

I know you can double click on a day and change it, but you can’t change just that day, you’ll change the whole class and how it repeats. You should think about making it available to just change one day when there’s a change in schedule due to weather or other odd situations that would need just one day’s schedule to change.

I have 2 high schoolers, and this app has been a gem with keeping us on top of assignments. I setup up two acconts at first but became tired of switching accounts on my ipad, so now i have them share one account. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to managed two student accounts? I think they are having some issuses when they enter updates at the same time. Open for suggestions on what may work best..

    • https://istudentpro.com iStudiez Pro Team

Coach Will, actually it would be better if they have two separate Cloud Sync accounts.

  • Jasmine

I second LMP- is there a way to delete a single days’s class session without changing the whole class? In iCal, if you edit a repeating calendar event, it will ask “edit this only or all recurring events”.
I need sth like this for istudiez, as there are some weeks when class is cancelled, and I’d like to see that slot open up on my calendar, as opposed to making a note to remind myself!

    • https://istudentpro.com iStudiez Pro Team

Jasmine, yes, you can use Cancel This Class option to delete one entry without deleting the whole occurrence.

  • Oliver

I have a question as well. I have it on the Mac Book and the iPhone and only on the iPhone it displays facebook events I might want to go to These facebook events are not even in my iCal calender, and I have no idea how to get them out of the schedule. Please help!

  • Alex

Is there any way to set-up “prep sessions” for upcoming exams/assignments as homework?

(e.g. Scheduling 2 hours to study for a Statistics exam on each of the four days beforehand)
