iStudiez Pro for Mac: known issues and next steps

Guys, right now we are working to make quick fix of minor bugs and occasional crashes of the app, as well as add localizations and improve stability.

There is a number of known issues and bugs that we are working on to fix now, and your help will be greatly appreciated. So if you experience any kind of weird or non-stable behavior of the app, please report exact steps and your actions before it happened. The more detailed your feedback is the faster bugs will be fixed.

    When I close the window I don’t want the whole app to quit. There is a whole paradigm you’re breaking with this.

    Plus backwards compatibility for the iOS app back to iOS 3 would be lovely—I now have the app on my Mac but can’t use it on my iPhone when actually IN uni!

    I’ve wrote a review on app store. Not all bugs, but features which would be really nice and handy. I just edited my review so it takes a few hours before it actually shows in the app store.     1. Week shift doesn’t seem to be working with cloud sync on any device

    2. Mac App: Overview>Week View>Double click class to bring up options>click save>for a split second the next class is invisible then shows

    Running 10.7. I am able to use cloud sync, but for some reason, the application will not send any data to the server… Any insight on this would be helpful.

    Hey guys, it’s me again. Just some lil’ suggestion. Why not create a Getsatisfaction account at getsatisfaction.com and heavily promotes it to the website and twitter.

    With Getsatisfaction, users can easily interacts with developers, and we can ask you tips, give you suggestions, and even bug reports there.

    And another thing. Why not heavily promote the link to the Mac App Store of your iStudiez Pro for Mac (at twitter and at this website) as in your original post (where you introduced it first), you didn’t put a link on it, and users have to look for the app themselves. Will be simpler if you just put it here at the site.

    Anyways, good luck with your work. I really really love your apps, as it’s really useful to students such as me. And I’m promoting it heavily to my friends, and rated you 5 stars. :) Love you guys!

    I entered all the data on my mac and created an account to sync with, however whenever I try to sync, the iPhone app crashes.

      Nitesh, try reinstalling the app, but make data backup before you delete the app.

    You can’t change the name of the weights in the grade window. There is no option to set weight for exams for some very odd reason? Intermittent crashes but I haven’t seemed to find a pattern yet.

    Bugs/Issues I have found so far:
    • My notes. Where are they and how can I add/edit them? (Possibly note attachments would be plus ie. files, pictures, etc. even if they don’t sync to mobile)
    • iCal Events. Can’t add or edit. Only via iPhone and then sync to mac.
    • Exam grades. Can’t enter.
    • Multiple teachers per class. Professors, TA’s, RA, etc.
    • Printing. Weekly or monthly would be awesome.
    • Assignments View *BUG*. Clicking “Priority” view in Current assignments, then switching over to Completed assignments, then back to Current defaults back into “Course” view. Doesn’t retain option.
    • Other than the above mentioned beautiful interface, and quick syncing!

    Just wanted to say awesome first haul out. Been waiting months for this release. Left you guys a 5 star and a nice review. Please let me know if you need any testers.

    Issue: Assignments without a due date disappear from the sidebar.

    Feature request: I’d love to see dates for when an assignment is both assigned and due (started and ended) as well.

    I tried this out using the sample data, and then I erased the data and added my own information. Now, when I try to add an assignment from the assignments tab, it will only let me add courses from the sample data. And, if I try to add an assignment via the overview tab, no courses are available for me to choose from. I like this app so far, but not being able to add assignments is fairly inhibiting!

    I find the dots (in calendar overview) for courses really disturbing: They are on a regular basis and you don’t need to be notified about them – in comparison to assignments. Can’t you implement a settings option for this?

    Cloud sync is broken for me (running Lion):

    Attempting to sync with Mac from iOS data does nothing. No data is imported from cloud, and vice versa. If I import my iStudiez data from my backup into the Mac version and attempt to sync with cloud, the iOS device does not see any changes.

    I also experienced “one of your devices is syncing” errors while trying this, even if none of them were doing that.

    Hope you can fix this. I know I’m running Lion, but hey, would be great :)

    I can’t sync my Mac version properly with the cloud. Before, I just used the iPhoneversion of iStudiez Pro and synced it with the cloud.

    When I try to get those files via cloud to my Mac, it doesn’t work. So I had to mail me a backup from my iPhone to the Mac. Would be great to have both devices in sync.

    By the way – iStudiez Pro looks great on Mac and on iPhone – u do a great job!

    A+ grade is not calculated. It dose not says “A+” but “97%”.
    Therefore A+ is not involved to overall GPA.

    @ Rob – I had to “Switch Account” under the Sync button, and then re-sign in, and then everything synced. But yeah, follow the Cloud Sync.

    Love the app so far. REALLY hope you guys have a plan for a Full-Screen version to coincide with the release of OS X Lion!

    bugs:
    1. apointments on sunday (from iCal) won´t be shown in week view.
    2. You can add teachers, but you can´t erase them.

    Fisrt, the app for my iPod Touch is great… but with so many bugs in the Mac Desktop version I’m not sure I’m going for it… anyway, a trial version would be a good idea at this moment…
    Second, I don’t understand the choice for going for Mac App Store only. I don’t have it, don’t use it… so I even can’t get the app… so bad !

    This is an awesome App. I’ve been using iSudiez Pro way back when I first got my iPod Touch 3rd gen. The Mac version is great but still kinda in the rough, like when you double click the subjects in the weekly view, it lags and is kinda pixelated bot still good.

    Also, why not add an Exams Tab for the Mac App and the iDevices App?

    Good job guys! Thank you! Hoping to see more apps form you guys in the future (like iStudiez Notes, like Pen Ultimate or any educational app except with all sorts of gimmick from iStudiez) Good luck!

    When I add a holiday or make changes to holidays and then click ok it freezes for a 10-15 seconds before i can use the app.

    When the database of assignments gets large it gets laggy and slow. Mainly occurs on the assignments tab when there are large amounts of assignments.

    in planner view mode, when i look in my semester at my courses, i can’t hide them all. there is always someone open.(some course open)

    1) When editing new assignments there isn’t a way to add or change alerts?
    2) please add support for reoccurring assignments, I know it has been requested before, and it would be a huge time saver.

    When synchronizing with ical of Mac, only the representative schedule of the account seems to be reflected in 【iStudiez pro for mac】 though I am a state that there are two or more checks in 【 trust 】 of the account of iCal because I have linked with two or more calendars of GoogleCalendar.
    Cannot 【 trust 】 of the account be reflected in the schedule of 【iStudiez pro for mac】?

    Please examine it.

    The app is great, but some fixes and improvements would be great, I enlist the ones that I consider important:
    1-Add info to the exams, like “get book from library”
    2-add info to courses, as “remember to carry the calculator” like that
    3-check and correct wrong words, check grammar
    4-more PHOTOS/LOGOS a camera logo would be perfect, I have a photography course, get more logos please.

    Bought this app for my Mac with the intention of being able to sync with both my kids apple devices. I installed it and it worked for a few minutes then it froze up when I was trying to add and delete teachers. Then it just went to a screen that basically said it crashed and I tried reopening a few times with no success. Then I called apple and deleted the app and reinstalled it and I keep getting the same error message which I forwarded yesterday to you guys. Still can’t use the app on my Mac, but then I tried installing on my sons Ipad, it works on my sons Ipad. Own it but can’t open it to use it on my Mac. Super disappointed. Any advice? still waiting to hear back from somebody about how to fix the problem.

    Maybe a great little feature to add to both versions is the ability to select which iCal calendars are shown in iStudiez. It helps a lot, since I use both iCal and iStudiez, so that it doesn’t repeat events.

    I’m on Snow Leopard. When I manually sync it seems to work fine; however, I watched the app for a while and it seems to crash every time it AUTOMATICALLY tries to sync. I see the loading appear next to the ‘Sync Now’ button, then the app freezes and exits.

    If iStudiez had the ability to add a “date assigned” to assignments, I would have purchased the version for Mac and iPhone long ago. Please add this!

    For now I’m having to use an app that is only available for Mac, which makes it very difficult to manage in some of my classes.

    Is the app supposed to no longer show classes on a schedule after the time period has passed? That seems odd – can you shut that off somehow? I’ve only been using the app for a day; let’s see if it happens again. iCal events from earlier days are still there.

    I have used this app on my iphone for a while and love it… so I purchased the app for my mac from the app store and it crashes… not just occasionally but all the time. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and nothing works.. Please fix asap

    Downloaded the app, it opened initially, then crashed.
    Now when i try open it again it gives me a message saying the app closed unexpectantly, it then gives me the options of ok or reopen. Neither do anything the asme message just pops up again.
    Ive tried reinstalling the app and my macbook has the most recent update and it still wont work. I want the app, but if it continues not to work ill have to get a refund.

    So I have the app for my mac and my iPod touch. To be able to keep track of everything between the two devices through this great app I was able to create a new cloud sync account on my iPod touch…but for some reason I am unable to sign into the “sync” on my mac….
    When I go into the app on my Mac, I go to Data, then Sync, but then “Sign in…” and etc. are not in bold black letters but grey letters and I am unable to click on them to sync the devices. What can I do to make it work?

    My mac app does not give me access or a section to sync my accounts between the purchased iStudies Pro iphone app and the mac app. As shown on the website pictures/description, there should be a “sync” link on the upper right hand corner of the mac app which does not appear on the mac app that I have.

    I have the sync feature enabled on both my iPhone (iOS 6) and my Macbook Pro (10.8.2). Communication between the two devices seems sketchy at best, with my iPhone always displaying incongruous assignments and outdated information, despite being manually synced frequently. When assignments are marked “completed” on my Macbook Pro, the change is not effected on my iPhone. Similar behaviors are exhibited for other changes in data in the Macbook Pro interface.

    Ultimately, I am left with a trustworthy Macbook, and an iPhone that is actively lying to me. Any recommendations?

    In order to sync between and iPhone/iPod and Mac you must enable sync in the iStudiez preferences on bot devices.

    Inputting new schedule, with a week long holiday in the middle of the semester. I have tried each combination of having the schedule run Mon-Fri or Sun-Sat and with shift on or off and the schedule never changes. It is currently displaying with the holiday week as ‘missing’. That is the previous week and the following week are the same (I have labs every other week). I need it to ‘shift’ so that this missing week is displayed on the following week. I tried saving the database and reinstalling it, turning my phone off/on and reinstalling the entire program. I have not yet resolved this issue.

    The app used to alert me on classes 15 mins before they happened, now it never does it and I’ve missed a few alternating meetings because of it. It says that notifications are still on but nothing seems to be happening.

      Most probably the issue occurs because of calendar issue that occurred recently.
      The issue has already been fixed. We have submitted a new update to Apple several days ago.

    Hi,

    On the iStudiez for iPAD calendar, I have imported my university calendar (which has all my classess etc) from my iCloud. In the Schedule section in the iStusiez calendar there is an annoying bug where instead of saying, for example, ” 9am – 10am Biology” it says “end – 10am Biology”.

    The afternoon classess seem not to have this issue. Any ideas? I can send you a screenshot if you like.

      Please check the date of the event you refer to in your Calendar app.
      “End” message is shown in case when event starts before the current day (e.g. the day before) and ends on the current day.

    Hi, I have an issue with iStudiez not showing my classes in the weekly view after the date of October 21st. I also noticed October 21st was the default end date for new courses, however whenever i change it to the correct end date for my semester (december 5), the details all change in the course information but the weekly view doesn’t show any of my classes after Oct. 21st still. Please help!
