iStudiez Pro for Mac update 1.0.4 submitted for approval

Since the release of version 1.0.3 we received numerous letters from you. Most were all about optimization of the app for Lion, but there were also some other issues that needed our attention. So we analyzed your feedback and worked to implement most claimed options and fix most common crashes.

The update 1.0.4 is already submitted for approval, now waiting Apple’s feedback.

What’s new:

  • Enhanced for OS X Lion: full screen support, basic restore (app will open where you left it)
  • Week view now supports overnight events as well as events that start before 4 a.m.
  • Data is saved to disk automatically when any change is made in the app
  • Added alert message to prevent occasional delete of courses and semesters

Fixed and improved:

  • Fixed synchronization of cancelled classes and exams
  • Fixed swapped actions for “Cancel Classes” and “Keep Cancelled” buttons
  • Fixed problem causing exams to be duplicated on several days in Overview
  • Fixed day change refresh
  • Fixed improper ordering of courses in Planner
  • Fixed bug preventing input of decimal credits
  • Improved drag & drop of classes in Planner
  • Improved assignments list layout
  • Minor improvements in localizations

    Will there be any possibility to show Google Calendar events in iStudiez? Because I’m synchronising different calendars (on one account) and it only shows the ones that are not classified (i.e. Work/University etc…)

      Luca, we will work on this in the future. So far there are some technical problems with that.

    I have iStudiez Pro on my iPhone and iPad. If I download the app for my iMac will everything sync together and If that does work is it possible to transfer data from these devices to the iMac, ie input calendar event using iPhone- sync and that event doesn’t get lost. Sorry it’s a new iMac and I’m just getting to grips with it :-)

    Will you add iCal sync support? I would love to be able to view everything from iStudiez in my main iCal calendar and take advantage of the functions of iCal.

    Thanks for the quick update. These past few weeks have been my only experience with the Mac version crashing continuously in Lion (usually when I would enter a grade for a completed assignment ; and sometimes during a sync). Hope it helps.

    Thks for the update ! A few ideas for the future versinos :
    – add repeating tasks
    – add the same mini-calendar view on the Mac version as on the iOS version (meaning it’ll be great to see a paper clip on the mini-month calendar of the Mac version when we have a task – as on the iOS version)
    – add a possibility to see that we’ve got tasks on a day on the week view (Mac version)

    I like the new update, some old bugs are gone, but some new came:
    – When I open the preview of a class to cancel it, the Preview Window don´t want to close, so I need to restart the app
    – I can’t sync data to my iPod from my Mac

    The update wiped all my previous added data. It still crashes continually. So much for a fix. Very frustrating.

    A big Month view for overview (instead of or in addition to small one to the right) would be awesome!!!!!
    I love iStudiez pro you guys did an awesome job!!! its made college a lot easier for keeping up with assignments and easily entering them whenever needed. Thank you for Lion support!!! just got a mac book air for college so its a great app to go with a computer for school

    The sync with thy iPad app does not work.
    I just downloaded the MacApp, pressed the sync button and it asked me which data I want to use, I ticked „local data“ (or something like this, I do not really remember and I am using the german version – btw nice translations 😉 – but I am sure I have not chosen the cloud thing). After this I synced the iPadApp, too and all my classes, teachers and so on disappeared :(.
    Is this a known bug and will it be fixed with the next update of the iPad version or did I make a mistake? :)

      Till, this is your mistake if you chose “From my Mac” when your data was actually on your iPad, then of course you lost your data.

    When I delete a lecture, the calendar on the right will disappear. Also, when I installed the newest version and synced it with my iPhone 3GS, the phone lost everything and won’t get anything synced. My fault or is there some kind of bug?

    Can you add syllabus tab in both the versions to carry the syllabus around and iCal sync to view the events in iCal?

    iStudiezPro no longer works for me in Lion. Crashes every time.
    Also, I really REALLY want Calendar events that are added within the app itself (Schedule > + > New Calendar Event) to show in the desktop version. Why isn’t this a feature? I don’t and won’t use iCal!!!

    Great app! But on mac lion impossible to use 24 hours format which is really annoying and it is not evident how to change the way the sync will go – through server or from the device. =(((

    1.0.4 was working fine for me, yet I lost the ability to sync from my iphone (all of my courses and instructors disappeared). Also, 1.0.4 deleted at least two of my courses on the desktop application, along with all their assignments. What can I do to fix this?

    Thanks for the update!
    Could we please have full iCal – iStudiez sync, which will enable us to see iStudiez events in iCal as well!
    I would like have the option to change individual letters, sometimes the odd lecture is in a different room, but I don’t want to add a new class in Istudiez to do just this. So an edit option for individual dates would be great! This could also enable me, to add individual elements of my syllabus.

    The data is still on my mac and synced to the cloud. It is the same account on my Mac and my iPad, but I cannot find a way to bring the data to the iPad…

      R.J., please double check the app’s preferences, it can be that they are disabled.

    Your app is amazing!
    There’s a little problem though… It is no more possible to assign grades to exam!!!
    And the grades of the older ones disappeared too :(

    I just updated my mac version of iStudiez Pro to the new version. When I did that, it wiped my assignments, classes, and semester from my iPod version. It is still all there on my Mac, but I cannot sync them together.

    A Killer Feature would be if I could subscribe to and/or share my schedule using ics-files.

    You could even host the ics in your “cloud” so it would be easy for your users to add multiple schedules (e.g. from colleagues) to their Calendar.

    Also, although I personally don’t use that feature, the user should be able to select which iCal-Calendar should be displayed (only the main Calendar is selectable when syncing multiple calendars with google).

    thanks for this update! but something is wrong with my syncing. I got two lectures (monday 12 to 2 and tuesday 10 to 12) in one class but apparently only one lecture is synced to my iOS devices. any idea?

      knisteraffe, please tap the lecture that is not synced and then tap Save again, it should sync then. We are now working to figure out why this can happen.

    I think that you could include a Notes Section, where we can take some notes about a course and photos, pdf’s, voice record, etc.
    I like so much iStudiez, I’m using it on my mac and iPhone and it is really useful, but before using iStudiez I used inClass and there were this Notes Section which was very useful for me, because I need to make some photos or I have some pdf’s that I use constantly in class, and if you have it there is very very useful.

    I’m having an issue with my schedule. I have all my classes set to end when the semester ends, on 12/16/2011. I’ve made sure that they are all set to this date several times, however none of my classes display on the calendar in the Overview section past this week (The stop on October 7th). I’m not sure why this is.

      Marius, please double check the time frames for your semesters/courses/classes, your schedule will only show up in Calendar and Today view within your semester/courses/classes time frames.

    After installing the update and synch between my MBP and iPhone only my assignments will synch, all my classes disappeared on the iPhone. (they’re still intact on my MBP. I use the mbp to add all classes etc, I add nothing on the iPhone. It would synch properly before the update).

    Also, it would be awesome if you could add notes to classes in the mac-version. I noticed that you can in the iOs version.

    Few small glitches with iOS 5 GM (most noticeable for me is the lack of the wood graphic on the “Today” screen) but otherwise working alright.

    My iPhone doesn’t sync right anymore! I’ve all my data on my mac (lion) but the sync with my iPhone doesn’t work anymore… I’ve already checked the sync direction and it’s right, what can I do? It is a great app and I really need it on my iPhone…

    There appears to be a bug with classes for semesters beyond 2011. I have a semester open with classes in it for the Spring 2012 semester. They sync between my iPhone and Mac, but the times are 9 minutes different on my Mac for that semester. Registration is beginning soon for the Spring, so this will be very annoying as folks start planning their Spring schedules.

    I’ve checked and rechecked all my time frames. I also tried uninstalling and then reinstalling iStudiez. All of my courses are set to expire on 12/16/2011, but they all stop after October 9th on the Calendar and Today views.

    I am having the same problem as Patrik, I have added all my classes to my Macbook Pro but none are appearing on my iPhone just the assignments. It’s quite frustrating because I rely on this app a lot! :)

    Love iSutiez Pro but there is one important feature that I can’t find: – Copying courses (including classes) from one semester to another semester.
    It would really be great if you could implement that cause it takes a lot of time to manually add every course with every class for each semester. Being able to duplicate and copy would definitely speed things up…

    Hi there, I’m experiencing exactly the same issues that Patrick is, furthermore when I added a class on the Mac, synced, then tried to sync on the iPhone, it still did not work (except for assignments), and when I pressed sync on the Mac again or when it automatically synced after some time the earlier mentioned course disappeared from the Mac as if the course never made it’s way to the server. Have turned off the Cloud on both devices for now.

    Also on a sidenote, I tried to reenter everything manually on my iPhone and was unable to add a new semester, as when I press +, the screen become stuck on the Date rollers, and will not let me scroll up to the title of the semester or down to the Done buttom.

    More funky stuff has started to happen. When I synch my iPhone and MBP all my classes are removed from my MBP. Also, if I change the due dates on assignments on my MBP it will have reset when I restart. Noteworthy is that the ONLY thing that happens when I synch is that the classes on my MBP gets deleted.

    Actually, it seems as if the changes I make recently on my MBP aren’t pushed to the cloud. It seems to be pushed properly from my iPhone though. My MBP also seems to receive changes made on the iPhone that has been pushed to the server. I didn’t have these problems before. Is it possible that my cloud account is faulting somehow?
