iStudiez Pro 1.6 for iOS submitted to the App Store

Hi everyone, hope your busy schedule still allows you enjoy spring and have good time during the weekends. As for us, we continue working to improve iStudiez Pro so that you can enjoy it even more.

We have just submitted version 1.6 which of course is optimized for Retina display on the new iPad. We’ve also finally added Copy & Paste option for semesters, courses, classes, exams and assignments (both single and multiple selection).

The other new things include:

Option to select multiple assignments in order to delete or copy them
Pinch zoom gesture to see brief and expanded content in Assignments list view.
Option to send data backup as a file
Week numbers now correspond to ISO

Besides, we’ve also fixed:

Bug when the app would sign out of cloud sync account if launched not being connected to the Internet
Crash on editing time frames for holidays
Problem causing birthdays to be occasionally shifted one day back/forward
Occasional interface glitches and refresh related issues
Hungarian, Italian and Traditional Chinese localizations

The update is now waiting for approval and we hope it’ll not take long.

More features are in development, we’ll announce soon.

I downloaded the version for the Mac and i have a iPhone and i can’t get the app on my iPhone. Do i have to buy the app for the iPhone or is there a way i can get it on my iPhone ?

  Justin, Studiez Pro goes universal for iPhone/iPod and iPad and is available through the App Store. A version for Mac is a stand-alone application and goes separately from the Mac App Store.

I think adding a custom grading scale for different exams would be really useful, my calc class has 2 completely different scales due to the scores and I don’t really know how to calculate without changing the actual grade I got. Great update, thanks!

It’s a great update, but I ‘really’ don’t like how you can’t see an entire assignment unless you go into the “editing” mode of the assignment.

I use the iPad version and i think you should add a feature where you can change the day start and finish times e.g. i can choose to view only 9am to 12 midnight instead of starting from 5am. That way, there will be room for the time slots to be larger.

Also, I agree with Dark (above), assignments should have a countdown and this should be shown in the “Day” view so I know its one of the things “to do”. It isn’t as helpful if i open it up to today and realise I’ve got something due, compared to if i see it everyday instead of actively checking “assignments”.

Besides those things, such a great app! I’ve been introducing fellow students to it and they also love it!

I would like to have my syllabus for the entire semester with me at all times.Could you please add a syllabus tab to both mobile and desktop versions with sync feature.Also I would like to open my calendar in iCal and not in iStudiez pro.

So far I am enjoying the app greatly for planning college classes. I am also on the fire Dept. and have meetings and training I would like to put in my calendar but there is not really a good way of putting a repeat for them. I was wondering if you would be able to put in a “every first, second, third, etc.” then the day of the week. For example meetings are first Wednesday of the month and training are the third Wednesday. Thank you.

My daughter just started high school so I got this app to help her stay organized. She has a rotating block schedule of seven classes. Any given class is not scheduled for the same days of the week, nor is it held at the same time of day. The classes also are not consistently every other day. Would the cut and paste option allow her to set up her semester schedule? Do you have any other suggestions?

I would like to be able to see today’s schedule when viewing the day’s view. The calendar function means nothing to me if I still have to open an external ( gmail ) calendar to see today’s entries. I do not want to have to manually duplicate my entire calendar just to view today’s timeline. I can see yesterday’s and tomorrow’s ( etc. ) events fine, it’s only today’s schedule that has been hidden from view. Thank you.

After putting in extra classes within the class, such as labs, and also adding in exams into the computer, when syncing it into the iphone it would sync a day off.

  Victor, if you have correct data on your Mac, please do the following:
  1. Click Sync button in iStudiez Pro on your Mac;
  2. Open iStudiez Pro on your iPhone, go to Today > settings page> Data Managing > Delete iStudiez Pro Data > Delete From This iPhone.
  3. Tap Sync button in iStudiez Pro on your iPhone.

Hi, great app. Although I was wondering why my app looked a bit different from the advertized appstore pics. I have the new 32 gig retina display ipad, and would have loved the calendar and assignments tabs arranged like you show in the appstore pis. I purchased the pro version b/c i thought it would be different then. Are that design for macbook? Did i get the wrong version? Sorry, i’m new to apple, if this is a stupid question

  Ian, iOS version goes universally for iPhone and iPad. If you already bought it you simply need to reach App Store from your iPad and download the version for iPad.

I would love to see support for grading bonus assignments above and beyond the 100% course weight.

It will be nice to have an option to turn the “earned over possible” grading system into a sub-weight system, this by taking the “possible” as a scaling factor. This could be done by enabled by a boolean selector inside the assignment weights definition.

This feature can also be implemented in the assignment definition, where one could define its value over the overall weight, when this scaling factor can be applied directly in the assignment grading, so having the existing “earned over possible” scale and a new “value over weight” scale.

As an example to clarify the problem that I’m facing, in a “top down bottom” view:

I have a course, which will be graded with 4 exams 20% of my grade and 7 papers 40% of my grade, this two are handled fine the way the app works, every single exam or paper worth the same as the others, they have an even distribution of its weight, so no sub-weight is needed.

But then I have homework and this is 40% of my grade, have 3 assignments as homework, but each assignment is not worth one third of the homework, but the first assignment is worth half the homework (thus is the 50% of the 40% of the grade), second assignment is 30% worth (30% of 40% of the grade) and the third one is worth the 20% left (20% of 40% of the grade).

So, if I grade the assignments 38 over 50, 30 over 30 and 19 over 20 I should get a total of 34.8 (15.2, 12 and 7.6 respectively) instead of 36.13 (10.13, 13.33 and 12.66 respectively).

Assuming a 100% completion on exams and papers the final grade should be 94.8 instead of 96.13.

Hope I made my self clear, if I’m not, feel free to ask for a clarification.

Implementing this sub-weight system, will persist the correct grading of the individual assignment, and get the right grade for the course, this making the tracking even more accurate.

I wish we could at least expect it to be available for Windows someday, I use it everyday and having it on my PC would make it permanently an essential part of my life…I don’t understand the point in sticking with only Apple products.

Failing a Windows app, how about a web app that we can log into to make our changes online that would sync to our devices. This would make those of us without the money to purchase a Mac and the Mac app very happy.
