On the Verge of iStudiez Pro Yosemite Update

Tired of waiting for iStudiez Pro Yosemite update? Well, it’ll be worth it!

We are not giving you here the estimated ETA of the release for the reason that it is simply not set yet. We’re working overtime to bring this biggest-since-the-initial-release update to you and we want to make it nice and flawless.

The update will be FREE for all current users of the app. Requires OS X 10.7 or later, including OS X 10.10 “Yosemite”.

Here is a screenshot for you, we are still polishing it, but you can already feel what the final look will be.
So patience, guys, we know you are waiting and we’ll speed it up.

Pretty good ! Please don’t use grey for the head of the app, make it white ! And an assignments widget can be fun too..

    • iStudiez_Team

      Hi Matthieu!
Thanks for the suggestions, we will think about them.

    • Brandon Butler

I’m going to vote the opposite 😛 I don’t like the white and prefer the gray. To each his own :)

  • Morten

Looks very good, and I am super excited. But the toolbar is taking up way too much space, and the icons should probably be redesigned to fit in with the new, flatter aesthetics.

    • iStudiez_Team

      Hi Morten!
Please clarify – do you refer to the toolbar icons or to the class icons?

      • Morten

I mean the class icons. Maybe remove the gloss and make them “flatter”? The toolbar icons look great.

        • iStudiez_Team

          Thank you!
Flat design is to be applied to the User Interface of the app.
We suggest the Class Icons to be user’s content, not the element of app’s design, thus they may not be flat.

          • Ruben Dias

They look childish! When I saw this reply, i’ve cleared my mind… I probably won’t using this app anymore on my mac. I hate to see icons that don’t fit on the UI! Gloss it’s so outdated… It doesn’t fit either in the UI or in the Notification center. If you don’t do an effort to do sometime better for the user experience, do something that actually people have been asking since the iOS 7 update (new icons, flatter), why do actually bother since the beginning?
I would love so much to see at least an option to change them! or “flat set”. Please Please guys give us that!

          • iStudiez_Team

Thank you for the suggestion, we will think about it.

        • MyLeftNut

Yes please. I actually came here to see how the update is progressing because I’m almost at the point of abandoning this app and just buying OmniFocus. I love this app but have stopped using and stopped recommending the Mac version because it looks like an app for grade schoolers. It would be equivalent to showing up to work with a Lisa Frank Binder with rainbows and Unicorns on the cover. Please update the icons. I don’t care if you use stock flat icons from somewhere else, it’s such a small request from so many users.

      • Ruben Dias

Now that I’ve checked the full resolution shot, would you guys switch the toolbar icons? they look pre-yosemite as well, it would be a great time to make them new, and cleaner to make the UI even more appealing :) For example, ui for Overview could be such simple as the bookmark symbol used on safari or iBooks. It would make it even more in-line with the UI. I know that it will give you work to do, but i would think that in the end it would compensate! Just do the best thing!
Like you guys have done it the past! I love when you launched the iphone iOS 7 design. I want to be the same happy :)

        • iStudiez_Team

          Hi Ruben!

Thank you for your feedback and suggestion.

  • Hime

Hello. You don’t seem to check your other project’s blog so here I am: are you planning on updating iTeacher app? I’ve been using it for a long time and it looks like you just abandoned it without any explanation. With the new iOS out it crashes repeatedly, sadly.

    • iStudiez_Team

      Hi Hime!

It’s not abandoned! We are working on update at the moment :)

  • Nick D’Angelo Jr.

Personally, I think the icon you have listed on the Apple Watch post would look the best for the icon in the Mac dock. The one listed here in this post just looks outdated. The Apple Watch icon is clean simple and fits the UI well. I use your app on my Mac, iPhone and iPad.

    • iStudiez_Team

      Hi Nick!

      Thank you for the suggestion.
The app’s icon design is regulated by OS X Human Interface Guidelines we have to follow.

  • Daniel Capecci

Just wanted to suggest some more data associated with each Course, such as Teacher’s Assistant info, office hours, etc… Possible to be able to add all of this through the course editing window? (instead of having to add instructors separately)

Include a distinction for Quizzes and Exams (quizzes could be colored an orange hue in calendar, maybe holidays should be green?)

    Thanks

    • iStudiez_Team

      Hi Daniel!

Thank you for the suggestion, we will think about it.

  • Dan Dreßen

Just release the app the way it is now and work on improving functionality and design in small but faster update steps. (More frequent updates) or just release a beta, I GETTING SICK OF WAITING. This is taking way too much time. And in the end does not solve the problem, we´re in 2015 now, some time in July or August Apple will be releasing its next operating system and the if you keep the progress going on like this, I´m afraid we will not see a Yosemite update on Yosemite anymore. Sorry if this sounds rude, I know how hard Interface design can be, but you have to get this done faster. It´s just an update in the end and you don´t have to make up the new app from scratch.

  • Sage

Looks Amazing! Thanks for the work!

  • Elliot Barer

Will you be able to add repeating exams/assignments. For a few of my courses, we have weekly quizzes and presently it is very tedious to enter them all into iStudiez (particularly in iOS but still so in OS X)

    • iStudiez_Team

      Hi Elliot!

This feature may be implemented in the future updates of the app.

  • Dan Dreßen

Another month without an update … !!!

    • iStudiez_Team

      Hi Dan!

      We are working on it.

  • Brandon White

lol, wow …. seriously, no update yet! I am currently enrolled in college and I “USED” to recommend this app to everyone I ran into – NO MORE. The lack of support is astonishing in this day and age. If you think my boycotting will not be impactful, think again. Everyone I know is fed up with the app as well. I tell my peers, they tell theres, they tell theres, etc… they will all do it, this app will slowly fall off into oblivion. This app has potential – but potential is only meaningful when talking about energy! A 12 year old kid with a calculator could probably support this app better than this company.

    • iStudiez_Team

      Hi Brandon!

We are working on the update.
If you face an issue when using the app and require the assistance, please email us to support(at)istudentpro(dot)com.

  • Robby Sharpero

Any news on the update? Is it at least being reviewed in Apple Store Resource Center?

    • iStudiez_Team

      Hi Robby!

We will inform once the update is sent to be reviewed.

  • sflomenb

Looking forward to the update. Hopefully it will be out soon. Better to take your time and be great than to rush and be poor.

    • Tuberto

Right. Just look at Yosemite. AirDrop to iOS devices still isn’t working at all, Preview freezes repentantly.
At least iStudies Pro is working without any problems! Some people in this thread should calm down and think about what’s important.
I would have rather waited one more year (yes: YEAR) for Yosemite than having to deal with such an amount of bugs (especially in version 10.10.0).
And yes, I reinstalled Yosemite twice, reset SMC and PRAM, and I’m using a new Mac.
I want to use my system in a productive way. So please, developers, take your time and release iStudiez without bugs.
It puzzles me that apparently many students are more concerned about the app’s design than its functionality.
But sure, I’m also looking forward to the update.

      • iStudiez_Team

Thanks for the support and understanding!

    • iStudiez_Team

      Thank you for understanding.

  • Colin Tan

This update is indeed taking some time, but the current version still works fine, and I don’t mind waiting for a while for a polish. People who are ranting here is somehow inconsiderate, and know little about software development.

On the other hand the iTeacherbook app is not working properly on iPhone 6 running iOS 8.2. Have been waiting for an update since iOS 7 back on November 2013. That is a more serious problem…

  • Nick Obey

Will this update include an option to have different grading methods for each class? My university uses a letter grading system, but a lot of my science courses have started using a points system ( ex. 750 total points, each assignment is out of a certain number points that add up to the total 750). It’d be helpful if i could grade each class differently, and then have those grades transfer over to the university measurement.

    • iStudiez_Team

      Hi Nick!

No, this update won’t have this option.
Please email us to support(at)istudentpro(dot)com, we would like to discuss this feature with you.
