Hi guys, we would like to update you and let you know that as soon as update 1.5 was approved for sale on the App Store we were finally able to send iStudiez Pro for Mac BETA to the beta-testers.
Testing period is until Monday, 21st of February and then we will allow several days for final check-up before we submit for approval.
PLEASE EVERYONE: call for beta-testers is now closed, we do not accept any more candidates at the moment.
So for all who wanted to be beta-tester, but was not accepted for the timing reason, let’s try next time
Thank you!

I would like to be beta tester!
Great to hear. We truly appreciate the update.
Too bad I wasn’t a beta tester. Oh well, still waiting. Thank you guys!
I assume already have testers, but in case you don’t I’d be more than happy to be ( I’ve got both iDevices)
hey guys! very good news
May i be a beta-tester?
I would really love to beta test it! Is it to late?
Awesome guys! I’m stoked.
Is iStudiez for Mac still a beta?
Awesome!
Any comments on the price?
Really excited for the desktop version.
I just have a feature request concerning grades, and I’m not sure if it’s been previously posted. I’d appreciate the ability to have separate systems. For instance, every assignment I’ve had thus far is graded on a 100-point scale, whereas every final grade is determined based on a 4-point scale. As such, I have to give every assignment what amounts to a letter grade (skewing the average) or using a 100-point scale for my GPA, which is not how it is calculated and causes it to be misrepresented. Just a thought.
Love the app!
****** great!
When will the next beta tester opportunity window open up?
Can’t wait!
with the next major update
Alex, could you please send that to our support mail? Thanks a lot!
Freddy, we’ll reveal everything as soon as we submit
Will there be a desktop version for windows as well?
Question: What is the deal with assignment grades in 1.5? I can’t seem to locate where to input grades or anything else for assignments I complete on both the iphone and ipad version, which is somewhat important for my use of the application. If this is a temporary thing, that would be fine, but if it’s some kind of permanent change I’m not sure the application carries the same kind of usefulness it did before.
Will the current beta testers continue or will we have to apply again?
I would love to be a beta-tester!
Ashish, we will always make new calls for beta-testers when we need any product or update to be tested.
Brittany, you cannot assign grades for any assignment if the course to which an assignment is attached has Grades option turned off, please double check that.
when you already bought it on your iphone or ipad, will it still cost money to get it on your mac?
let me know please!
cheers
After the beta, how much time do you expect before the final release?
YESSS!
This is absolutely horrendous.
The original announcement of iStudiez for Mac was talked about from the developers in a way that we were to understand and expect it “shortly” after MacWorld. It has now been nearly a month since MacWorld and we are only NOW hearing about a beta test being sent out? Betas should have been sent out immediately after MacWorld or before, preferably before because the developers should understand their audience.
As a student, I would use the product for recording my assignments and making sure they were getting done. I like having my schedule on both my phone and my computer, and whether i’m at my computer or away I complete an assignment, I can check it off. The developers need to understand there is a likelihood that 80% or more of their customers are people like me, average college students (and professors), and it is nearly March. No one is starting a semester right now. They have dropped the ball and refused to release a product on time for their customers.
To top it off, we will have to wait “several days” after the initial beta test (who can run a beta in 3 days, much less over a weekend?), and we know the App Store to sometimes be fickle about products, so we may have more waiting time. The developers need to understand all this and change their gameplan.
Obviously it won’t matter once the product is out and about, but it is the principle of the thing. I am close to just saying forget all of it and dealing with the partially crappy product I am currently using because I am so offended with how the developers have handled this entire situation.
Please read my comment and do what you will with it. It is what it is. But you will lose business because of this. I guarantee it.
Justin, we understand that you are upset because you had to wait several weeks more after Macworld. It is a hard work to issue a good app that will sync with all iOS versions via cloud sync server and make it attractive and valuable for all users of iStudiez Pro.
For someone not directly involved in the development work things appear to be different than for us who spend more than 10 hours every day (including weekends) working on it for many months now.
The reason it takes so long is because students from all over the world use the app, and we want to be sure that the launch of Mac version will be as smooth as possible for them.
Thank you for your understanding.
I would like to be a beta tester whenever this is available. Keep up the great work!
Ahhh I’m so excited
I love iStudiez!
Unfortunately I must agree with some of the negative comments. You all have a great app, and as someone familiar with the development process, I do understand how hard it is. That being said, “the ball” was dropped. I understand your desire to make a great app, but at the very least you should have allowed ANYONE to be apart of the beta. That way people know it is a work in progress. The Spring semester has begun and we are forced to use other competing programs. Please don’t let this happen again.
If i got a penny for everyday I wasted waiting for this app to be released I would be rich.
Thank you iStudiez Pro Team for your response to the last comment, your hard work and your great product. People here have not been complaining because they thought you guys were being lazy or didn’t care about the quality of your product. We use your iPhone app and love it. The problem is that you are not communicating with your customers. Your product is all about productivity and planing ahead. We want to be informed about the development, so we can plan ahead. If you believe that your product will greatly enhance our productivity, as do we, you must tell us what we can expect. I can wait, I just want to be taken seriously and know what to expect. Quit stalling and keep us informed. Please.
I get that people feel like iStudiez broke their timeframe for release, and I can understand their frustration with buying an app that promises desktop syncing….by 2012. While its bugs me that it’s behind schedule, I’ve just found myself less dependent on iStudiez. I don’t blame the developers, nor am I hoping they fail. I, like everyone else, will probably buy the app when it comes out.
My only concern is this: iStudiez has a history of being buggy. I’ve lost data a lot, my app crashes a lot and developer support isn’t fantastic. While I feel reassured that the developers are taking their time to make sure the app is as “smooth as possible,” I sincerely hope they put an emphasis on consistency of use.
Like I said, I think that everyone who berates these developers will, in fact, buy their app. But I also hope that after all this waiting, we aren’t left with a buggy app and wondering, “this is what we were waiting for?”
So when EXACTLY will the Mac Version be out?
I think it is time to show the iSPT a little love…
I love you iStudiez Pro Team!
Thank you for working so hard to provide us with an app that basically gives us the advantage of supreme organization!
Time management and organization make a student a scholar.
I appreciate the hard work and effort you are investing into this app. You are an awesome team.
THANK YOU!
Can you please add a feature to exams so that you can input a grade for an exam without creating a new assignment?
Thanks,
Here in Austria the semester starts on March 1st
Thanks Noemi
Dear iSPT, is there any very vague (well, it can be more concrete, too, if possible) estimation about when the iStudiez for Mac is about to roll out?
I ask because it can take quite some time to add all datas of the new semester on the iPhone and if it’ll take around 2-5 weeks, I can wait for the Mac App.
Thanks!
I like how iStudiez Pro team that is “Andriy and Michael” is responding to the “nice” comments and also wasting time sitting here and replying while they could go and work on the iStudiez app for Mac in the kitchen..oops I mean on the computer
cant wait for mac version!
“The reason it takes so long is because students from all over the world use the app,”
what is that even mean???
Hey iStudiez team,
As an iOS app developer myself I understand exactly what you are going through. You thought a certain deadline was realistic then crashes happen at the wrong time, and it takes days in Instruments to fix it. I am experiencing the same thing at the moment.
It is frustrating as a user to be waiting for the app this long but there is absolutely no reason to get so fired up. Everyone has been in this situation and having to wait a little longer for a great app is not the end of the world.
Great job on 1.5 guys, and seriously looking forward to the Mac app.
Keep it up.
Thanks Jad
Peter, the explanation is right after these words
Windows version???
Timmy, iStudiez Pro Team is not only Andriy and Michael, otherwise they would spend all their time answering questions here and would never be able to finalize everything
It is interesting to compare the anticipation for iStudiez for Mac versus Papers2 – frustrated anticipation versus an exciting day by day feature sneak peek.
I appreciate the hard work the iStudiez team have done on the iOS version, and am sincerely looking forward to the Mac version. However, the promise that iStudiez for Mac would come out shortly after Macworld seems to have been misleading for those of us who are increasingly impatient – I was expecting a week or two at most. Nonetheless, I am confident the iStudiez team have a good reason for delaying the release, to ensure that our user experience will be nothing but flawless. I expect nothing less.
Is there going to be a feature where you can mark an assignment at done but not put in a grade yet? Because I don’t want it to think that the assignment is overdue but I can’t mark it as completed because I didn’t get a grade on it yet.
Why is iOS 4.2 a requirement suddenly in this version?
I’m still using 3.1.3 since I have a 3G iphone since 4.2 lags my phone considerably and I can’t update anymore.
The previous version works great on 3.1.3., why the sudden change?
if you guys need a beta test for the windows version please email me using the email provided =D
Also can you guys please hurry up with the Windows Desktop version of iStudiez Desktop, really need it to store my information etc on it..
thanks, keep up the gd work
I think i just heard the alarm go off. Its 1 PM in the afternoon. There’s no snooze button on this particular clock. SO you just at iStudiez better get out of bed before I take the comforters and release the Mac app already.
Fran, we had to exclude compatibility with 3.1.3 for technical reasons as well as because features in version 1.5 required functionality of iOS 4.2. But we will think of a solution for the future.
Chris, you can do it. Just tap OK on the Smart Keyboard and your assignment will be marked as Complete. Later when you know your grade, you can grade it immediately.
I just want to say that I have been religiously checking this blog for news of when the mac version will be released to us non beta users. Your product is amazing, so amazing in fact that this site has come before facebook in the morning check of regular social networking sites. Thank you for all the amazing work you are doing making student life a little more organized.. Now… please release it soon. Pretty please? Before my semester is over perhaps???
School is starting again for me. Do you know how much longer it’s going to take to release the Mac version or at least a beta everyone can use?
Otherwise I will need to look out for other options.
its not the end of the world not having a mac version…u guys were satisfied with the iphone version until someone mentioned that a mac one was coming out
but it would be nice for it to come soon
how many days is several days? 4 or 5? or are we talking weeks? i would be much happier waiting if i knew A DATE. Why wont you tell us? Its very off-putting
I can’t wait for this app!!! Has it been submitted to Apple yet?
Hi I know the call for beta tester is closed, but please if another one opens let me know. I’m a computer science student and I’ve tried tons of applications to sync my grades and schedule, but haven’t found the right one yet.
Thank you
Hi. Just as Fran was asking, I have a 3G as well running 3.1.3 . I recently had an issue with my iPhone and thus sent it into Apple upon which they gave me a new iPhone. It is as well running 3.1.3, but now I want to reinstall iStudiez Pro. Is there any way that I am able to receive a previous version from you all so that I can throw it back on my iPhone? It would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for all of your help in advance.
