iStudiez Pro updates submitted both iOS and Mac versions

We decided to release a quick update before holidays and hope that it’ll be approved by Apple before the whole team goes on holidays.

Most importantly, the updates include A&B and alternate days schedule shift after holidays, fixes of random syncing issues, customization of date for assignment notifications and some more improvements of general performance of the app.

Also, for iOS version the School Bell notification sound is added :)

Update: both versions are available on the App Store as of Dec 20, 2011.
NOTE: you need to update both iOS and Mac versions in order to get Cloud Sync work properly.

I just wanted to thank you guys for creating what has by far become my favorite app on my Mac and iPhone. It’s incredibly useful, and I really like the overall organization and the sleek interface.

I have just one suggestion for the next update, though. Right now, assignments can only be checked off. Unfortunately, that means there’s no way of differentiating between assignments I haven’t started and assignments I have started but haven’t yet finished. Would it be possible to add a progression slider to all assignments as an alternative?

That way, the assignments I have already begun working on (but not yet finished) will be labelled “In Progress” with a slider that I can manually adjust (For example, if I’m halfway done with an essay and then decide to move on to something else, I’ll adjust the slider for that essay to 50%, but when I’m done with it I’ll drag it to 100%. Assignments I haven’t started would default at 0%)

This would be an extremely useful tool for someone like me who often has to juggle several assignments at once. Thanks!

@Bryan.. I like that idea of a slider progress too so +1 from me

Along with the slider, could you add support for projects with multiple tasks/assignments in them? For instance, a movie I’m working on for my english class has several steps, like storyboardig, scripting, filming, etc, but if I wanted to add that in, I would have to input them as multiple assignments.
Sub-tasks/projects would make it a lot easier to manage the bigger, multistep things that we have to do. Thanks!

Any closer to integrating the “holy grail” of iStudiez user requests — the ability to push assignments back into iCal and not just the reverse? Is this on the table, or is the concern you lose the “stickiness” of your app (I swear I wouldn’t use the app less!) Thanks.

3 More Suggestions when adding classes.

    1. Ability to add the couse code (ex: PAS-1010-LU01)
    2. Ability to enter the couse credits.
    3. Ability to track financial information
(Financial Aid, couse cost, other fees).
    4. Text Book Information

May be to much ask, but had to ask anyway..

    Thanks

    Guys,
This app desperately needs proxy support for sync, being for students, many of whom are behind authenticating proxies.

Along with these suggestions I think that the ability to attach documents to assignments would be great!

Seconding Bryan and Michael’s comments. I’ve been a faithful user of both the Mac and the iOS versions and I love this. I would love more to see the:
    - slider progress (helps give me motivation to start, not just finish)
    - pushing events to iCal (I would actually even stop using the desktop iCal if this happened)

the app always crashes when i want to change the dates of my trimester to ones solely in 2012 don’t know if this is a problem because of apple or you. For example i cant change my trimester dates to jan 10 2012 to april 3 2012. Could you please check it out, thanks.

  11. we need a windows version soon :(

I think that Bryan’s and rahullio’s ideas are brilliant! +10 for both!

I have a question. Is it possible to copy all the courses (including the classes) to a different semester? because I finished my first term but in the second term I have the same timetable and to input all the classes requires a lot of time.

  13. gasbi, there is no way to copy so far. We plan to implement it in the future.

  14. gasbi said

thanks, well, I fund a solution. With the mac’s application there is the possibility to copy one class per one class, and with this feature I’ve done it so quick!

I insist: Bryan’s and Rahullio’s ideas are brilliant, you have to add them!

In addition I think that both ideas could go together, you add a project with different tasks inside, and with a progression slide which can be associated with the different tasks!

The best app for college with no doubt!

[excuse me for my english, I'm from Spain..]

Hi, I have the app on my iPhone and have been using it. I got istudiez pro for the mac but i can’t update. It is stuck on version 1.0 (348) I would like to update to have the new features.

  17. Marteunit, we do not manage the distribution of the app, you need to address App Store support.

I love this app and was happy until my calendar on my mac for iStudiez is a day behind. Not on my istudiez for my iphone or iCal just istudiez on my mac. I have tried to see if there was something in my settings but I can not find anything wrong. Also syncing my iphone and mac doesn’t fix it either. How do I fix it?

  19. DAS, did you update to the most recent version of the app? If so, please send email to our support describing very meticulously what steps you take so that the sync does not happen.

  20. Josh said

Your application has changed my life :) Super happy with it and each update brings more useful features.

There is something I wish would be included in future updates for the Macintosh version:

When setting the date for a class or exam, could you please add a drop-down calendar feature so that we can see the days of the week for the date?

    Thanks!

    Josh
